The End of a Long Day

Alright – Mark is back from surgery. It went amazingly well. The vessels were not as involved as expected and the tumor came off the bone quite easily. I will keep this short so that I can hold his hand for awhile before I head off to get some sleep.

I knew Dr. Jones was a good surgeon and a very kind man. I was pleased to know he is good friends with our wonderful surgeon at OHSU, Dr. James Hayden. He sat and talked to me for about 30 minutes. I don’t have a lot to say about that discussion – but I also don’t want to sugarcoat anything. Those lung tumors are very serious and we will begin our counterattack as soon as possible.

  1. It has taken some reading to get caught up on this arduous journey you face. Having gone through the whole cancer thing two times several years apart, I am amazed at the stamina you both have to continually meet each hurdle, make the most of the moments you have, and stay the course in terms of faith and of fighting the cancer. Truly you are enduring the refiners fire and it brings tears of love and respect for you both.
