While scrolling through Mark’s personal computer I found this short essay that he had written. I thought it was great timing since I had just written about the miracle of the July snowstorm in the canyon. He must have written this the same year. I think that it was his contribution to a newsletter because he signed his name. These are all his words (and I have found other writings of his that I will share in time.) It is fun to have Mark as a guest blogger….
As you irrigate your field, water your garden, or tube down the Provo river this summer, say a prayer of gratitude to your Father in Heaven who has blessed you with the water you need to sustain life here in the desert.
The snow and rain that filled the reservoirs this winter are much more than the result of fortunate weather patterns. Do not forget that we have been living in a drought, that we have been praying for water, and that we even had a fast petitioning God for water.
The water we enjoy this summer is a sign from God that he has heard our prayers.
Our response to this miracle will either bring us closer to God or separate us from him.
Speaking of water…
Jesus Christ is the “fountain of all righteousness.”
And “whosoever drinketh of the water that I (Jesus Christ) shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up unto everlasting life.”
“Therefore, whosoever will come may partake of the waters of life freely; and whosoever will not come the same is not compelled to come.”
As you enjoy the water this summer, remember the invitation of Jesus Christ… “come and partake of the waters of life freely.”
Then, do something more to show your gratitude to Jesus Christ for the miracle of water that flows into our beautiful desert town.
