We did not have Christmas Blues. On the contrary – we had a great Christmas. I am just taking this opportunity to pass along our little tradition of sharing a Christmas video. Our kids are always in charge but we took off a couple years while I was sick. Obviously, this is also a sick year but they took that theme and ran with it. They showed up at the hospital and all that we had to do was sit there – very natural.
Quick update – Mark handled that week of intense chemo very well. His nausea drugs seem to be doing their job very well. In fact, the chemo leaves a strange taste in his mouth so he eats quite a bit in the hope of getting some flavor that will give him some relief from the metallic sensation. Exhaustion is his constant companion but he is able to work several hours, walk to the end of the block, and right now he is doing the dishes so that’s great for me!
Here you go…. First a sneak peek of my second favorite scene… then click on the title if you would like to watch the video.

Christmas Blues – Merry Christmas 2023
Our holiday movie tradition began in 2015. We moved to Heath, TX (Dallas) on the 13th of December. Our moving van was stuck for an extra week in a Wyoming blizzard so it was a little rough going at first. Yet with true Southern Hospitality – during our first Sunday at church we had three dinner invitations. Two families invited us to Christmas Eve. For one of those parties we were asked to share a family talent. Obviously we were flummoxed. (Is that the right word? It seems to describe how we felt as we tried to think of some sort of talent to share.)
We decided to make a movie and because watching A Christmas Carol is a tradition of ours, we created our own version. Imagine the party – here we were in a room full of strangers who shared talents like singing a beautiful Christmas song or reading a special Christmas picture book… and then our turn…. we made them all sit through this silly 8 minute video. They seemed perplexed and we later realized that perhaps many of them didn’t know the story, or maybe they just thought the new people were weird. We were rather proud of ourselves pulling it off when all of our belongings had only arrived a few days before. I think we were the only ones laughing. At any length – they are still our friends and we still like to watch ourselves be silly.
We continue to entertain ourselves with these movies. If you have any ideas for next year let us know… (not me – the kids).

Wow! Thank you for cheering us up!
